    Customizing your vBulletin forum

Do you customize your vBulletin forum to make it more unique?

I don't really mean in terms of using a theme. I mean things like creating a custom logo, using board icons, making changes to the style to make it more unique, and stuff like that.

If you do these thing - what customizations do you add to your forum?

I always make sure to add a custom logo, leaderboards, and a few other basics. But beyond that, I don’t go wild with customizations. I used to get way too into it, spending ridiculous amounts of time tweaking every little detail. Eventually, I realized that it’s not about how fancy the forum looks or which software you use. If the topic is engaging and the community is friendly, the forum will thrive on its own. Customizations and software? They're mostly for the admins to geek out over.

SMF, for example, looks as basic as any forum possibly can, and yet there are still very successful forums running on it.

I think some of the biggest forums out there are either using vBulletin (older 3.X series), SMF, or a custom software. I see more large SMF forums when it comes to big board using free.
