I don't remember where I found this but here's a thing I implemented on my first vB4 setup, it's a good way to bring users back to your site.
#1 - In Options >> User Registration Options: Turn on auto subscriptions, turn on email notifications, and enable email notifications for everything.
#2 - In Options >> Email Options: Set the "Length of Topic Preview in Emails" option to 25 or 30
1. The more they hear from you the more likely they'll return to the site.
2. Limiting the amount of preview text they see might pique their curiosity to see what the notification is about. If you give them too much preview they might read the preview and not need to see it on the site.
