Have any of you paid for advertising on social media to promote your forum?

If so, how did it work out? What platforms did you use?

I've never used it or given it much thought.
When my site started all those years ago I got a few friends to help create a level of vibrancy in the first couple of weeks with posting some new threads
What has helped attract new members is posting snippets of information on X which has driven a lot of new members too the site.

I wonder how effective X advertising would be for you.

If you have a budget for it, even if not a big one, you might try it to see if it is effective.

I have a large following on Facebook for my hiking niche. The free side of promotion can get me plenty of new traffic but when I pay for ads, it brings me even more, especially those who spend money on things. Of course, it's anot a forum that I'm advertising.
