Promoting your forum on social media

Do any of you promote your forum on social media at all?

Do you think it brings you more members or just traffic if anything?

What's your strategy for promoting your forum on social media?

I do post on X with links or references back to the site and it often drives traffic. The challenge is that it's not necessarily good traffic.
Over the last couple of years I have found X followers typically have a more of a 'click a reaction' or just 'read the content' passive approach rather than wanting to join in discussions.
We have one 'rewards board' where the content creates a bit of excitement with the supporters of the Western Bulldogs but the content is only shared with the active members
Because of this approach, it also gets some angst reactions on the biggest Football Forum in Australia but that in turn sends some members across.

I think being somewhat active on other platforms can be very good for the forum and I'd even go so far to say it's a 100% a requirement if you are trying to build the community.
How that is achieved is the real challenge but having some genuine and specific content that people want is the key.
