    Paying for forum posts

Have any of you ever paid for forum posts?

As you may know, there are services available that enable you to pay for post packages. A user will typically join your forum and post a set number of new topics and replies. This is a good way to help get a new or dying forum active.

Do any of you practice this tactic?

I've never done this, as it's unhelpful IMO. Once the paid posts are there, these people are never seen again and it just looks suspicious.

I've used paid posting services, but only at the very beginning to get a new forum going.

However, I'd much rather focus on getting organic content in, these days.

It's not something that I would consider. I've got an Australian Rules football forum that focuses mainly on one specific team so I doubt it would work.
My preference would be to rally some of the better members and even some personal friends to do an organised 'launch' for a week or two.
Content can build content so it's all in the planning. Some frequent topics being started on a consistent basis gives people a reason to log on and respond
I did hear of one site a few years back where the owner created a couple of extra accounts to help give the site a bit more vibrancy but that's probably a very short term plan.

I could never create fake accounts and use them. I'm not good at lying and would be nabbed red-handed by any more watching, LOL. I do create a test account though but I don't really post with it unless to test something.
