    "The 150 Year Rule"

One of the biggest reasons I can’t stand traditional social media is that no matter what you’re talking about, someone always finds a way to make it political. I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on, I don't care and I’m over it.

Because of that, I use the “150-Year Rule.” It’s simple: nothing political from the last 150 years is allowed. No questions, no comments, no memes, no sneaky references to politicians, wars, elections -- you name it. Foreign or domestic, it doesn't matter. It’s been a lifesaver for filtering out the political junkies who try to worm their opinions into every conversation.

"Oh, I’m in Chicago! You know who else is from Chicago and hates America?" That's strike one. One more reference: banned. There is no arguing and there is no compromise.

    What do you think?

    I think that's funny!

I like the 150-year rule. They can argue about what happened prior and then it just becomes a history debate.

If you don't want politics, that's a great rule to implement.

I've had a strict no politics no drug talk approach on the forum and given it's largely sports focused it hasn't been hard for the members to follow.
The moment it starts I just ask for people to get things back on track and I haven't had a lot of issues with it.

I think that's usually what it takes - just ask folks to knock it off.
