I plan on using the groups for more personal conversations between members. Since the forum is centered around the LGBTQ community, members might want to have a personal group for their conversations rather than post about certain topics on the forums. I think it will also keep things more organized on the forums too.

That's definitely a good way to use the groups plus there are all sorts of organizations and sub-groups within that community, as well.

I prefer using groups for mods and such, rather than creating private forums. I've had members set up groups for their work teams—like Payroll or Admin Assistants, for example. It gives them a chance to add their personal touch to the forum, and they always seem to really appreciate it.

Interesting.
Using social groups for moderator/staff sections. I love that idea!
